Description: This Horse and Pony Care session will cover Feeding and Watering.
Members will learn how to assess condition, calculate feed quantities, and understand the importance of correct nutrition for health and performance.
Topics covered...
• E - D Level - Basic understanding of feeding, including knowing common feed types, providing clean water, simple rationing, and recognising why weighing feed and monitoring weight is important.
• D+ - C Level - Intermediate feeding knowledge, including balancing simple rations, understanding forage vs. concentrates, using a weighbridge or weight tape accurately, and adjusting feed based on workload and condition.
• C+ - B Level - Advanced feeding skills, including formulating appropriate diets for different needs, interpreting weighbridge data, managing weight-related issues, and applying nutritional principles to maintain optimal health and performance.
